Scared Silly

Earlier today I was sitting at the computer working on a project. I was cutting something out with my silhouette cutter, which is not very quiet, and watching a show on hulu at the same time. Toby was downstairs watching a show and eating fruit snack, or so I thought. One minute I was working peacefully and the next Toby had quietly climbed the stairs, sneaked up behind me, and roared. I jumped from the scare, but then was laughing so hard. Toby then left the room, but kept coming back to scare me again. He thought it was so fun and was laughing himself. Oh, Toby.

Cute Little Guy

Toby has been super fun lately (especially if you ignore his sleeping habits). He almost weighs 26 pounds, climbs everywhere, and is talking up a storm.

Here are two pictures of Toby watching shows. He loves to bring me movies (usually Cars, Toy Story 2, Wall-e, or Bolt) and says "wash-a-show". It is so stinkin cute. A few weeks ago our home teachers were here and Toby brought me Cars and asked to "wash-a-show". I took the movie and said no. Then Toby looked at me and said "wash-a-show" over and over again until I consented. We were all laughing at Toby, how could I say no? If Zach and I are watching TV sometimes we let Toby watch a movie on the portable DVD player in the kitchen. He LOVES it.
Toby adores seeing pictures and videos of himself. If I want a picture I have to hide the camera from Toby or all he wants to do is see pictures of himself. When he is upset Zach will pull out his cell phone and show Toby videos of him and Toby laughs and laughs.Toby loves his Elmo slippers. He got them for Christmas and for a while was scared of them, but one day that all changed. He brings them to me and asks me to put them on. They look so cute. Meanwhile Zach is training Toby for theme parks. I don't love roller coasters so Zach needs someone to go with. To get him ready Zach tosses Toby in the air, hangs him upside down, and spins him around. Toby laughs so hard. Someday the two of them will have so much fun together.
One of Toby's favorite things to do is pull a chair over to the counter and stand on it. It started with him wanting to see what I was doing, but now he likes to do it even if I'm not in there. He also loves to stand there and eat his food. He gets very upset if I put something on his chair and does everything he can to get rid of it.Sadly, Toby still gets up very early. Luckily he likes to watch shows so I can get a little more rest. Every once in a while he falls back asleep.
Probably Toby's favorite thing is trains. He loves his train book, his train set, and watching train videos with his grandpa. I'm not sure what Toby would play with if he didn't have his train set and love playing with it so much. When we are downstairs Toby will go to the stairs, wave bye, and say choo-choo (sounds more like cuckoo). Next thing we know we here Toby in his room playing with his trains.
Lastly, we are trying to get Toby to use his binky less. So one day I put Toby down for his nap and he just kept crying. When I went in to check on him I found this - two binkies in his mouth. I guess he was trying to make up for lost time. Oh well, it's a work in progress.

A Sticky Situation

Picture Catch Up (Warning: Long Post)

1. We celebrated my birthday. Toby loved the balloon I got. He sat on the couch holding it and watching tv. We had dinner at PF Chang's. Delicious.
2. We spent a weekend at a cabin in Bear Lake with some of our friends. We played games and ate food. It was awesome to see everybody.
3. Toby learned how to open the drawer we keep our cooking utensils in. He loves playing with them, especially the whisk.
4. We went to Grandma Bateman's to get our Christmas chocolates. Toby was given a Winnie the Pooh pillow that he loves to lay on.
5. For Christmas Eve we had a party at Grandma Davis' house where we ate a lot of cookies. The kids acted out the nativity. I loved the part where the angel that came to visit the shepherds (Julia, almost 3) said that she was hungry and that there was some candy over there. Then all of the kids received new pajamas.
6. We spent the night at Zach's parent's house so that we could spend Christmas morning with them. Toby loved the presents from Santa - a Stand and Play Rampway and a toolbench. He also got a Geo Trax train from Grandma and Grandpa Davis that he plays with every day. We got a Wii for Christmas from Zach's parents. It has taken over our lives, we love it. Zach got the game Epic Mickey and a tent for Christmas. Emily got some scrapbook paper and a gift card to the gluten free bakery by our house. We had a great Christmas.

Sleepy Head

Most of you that read this blog know that Toby wakes up really early. I'm talking 3 or 4 in the morning early. I however am not a morning person. I usually wake up with him and give him a sippy cup with instant breakfast, turn on baby einstein, and go to sleep for as long as he will let me. Toby usually alternates between watching his show and playing with his toys. Usually I wake up to Toby playing loudly with his toys or yelling at me from the bottom of the stairs. Last week however I woke up to silence. As most of you know this is not a good sign when you have a toddler. I jumped out of bed assuming that Toby was wreaking havoc on my house. As I started down the stairs I saw Toby asleep on the doormat. It was so funny, I couldn't help taking pictures.

Halloween Pumpkins

In preparation for Halloween we went to Brent and Karma's house to carve some more pumpkins. Since Zach hadn't carved his yet we took it down with us. He carved Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Then he used one of his parent's pumpkins and carved Bowser. After spending a night with the family we went Trunk or Treating at their ward building. Toby really wasn't sure what was going on. He kept looking in the bucket I was holding, not realizing it was candy. If someone handed him the candy he just dropped it in the bucket without thinking twice. Then everything in the world disappeared when someone gave him a glow stick. He couldn't take his eyes off it and barely noticed when other people gave us candy. I guess it doesn't really matter since Zach and I are planning on eating his candy anyway. His not paying attention though did make it a little more obvious and embarrassing. There was even one car where the people asked what kind of candy bar Toby wanted, of course I told them my favorite (Toby doesn't have a favorite anyway) and then they commented on the fact that I was going to eat it as we walked away. Oh well. We had a good time.

Then on Saturday, Zach carved our last pumpkin. He carved Zero, the dog from The Nightmare Before Christmas (if you haven't realized yet, Zach really likes that movie). We decided not to take Toby Trick or Treating. We didn't need anymore candy, it was raining, and he had no idea what was going on and that he was missing out. Instead we had Erik and Shanna over for dinner. We had a great visit with them and Toby loves them. It was a great Halloween. Now time for Christmas, and I guess we shouldn't skip Thanksgiving and my birthday.

Davis Pumpkin Carving Party

Every year my parents have a party where everyone who can comes and carves pumpkins. The kids dress up in their costumes so that we can all see and we have dinner. It is one of my favorite Halloween traditions. This year it was raining and we confined to the garage for carving pumpkins, but we had a great time. For those of you who don't know Zach is a master pumpkin carver and I am mediocre at best. Most years I get so frustrated that I throw my pumpkin away and mope. This year however was a different story. Zach got stuck helping one of our nephews carve his pumpkin and so he didn't have time to do his own and mine actually turned out nice. Toby loved carving pumpkins as well. He thought that pulling out the guts was fun and would then drop them in the garbage can for me. He also enjoyed throwing the top of my pumpkin away and eating pieces of pumpkins. It was a great pumpkin carving party.
