Roll Over Beethoven

I can't believe that my little boy can roll over. He first started doing this about a week ago. At first I thought it was a total fluke because it looks like his arm just collapses and he has to fall over. But he has done it multiple times since then. I think that it is funny that his cousin Keyan only rolls from his back to his stomach, while Toby does the opposite. So long tummy time.

Relaxing

Cherry Hill

Last Saturday we went to Cherry Hill with Zach's family to celebrate Karma's birthday. Karma watched Toby for quite a bit of the day so that Zach and I could go down the water slides. There were hardly any people there because most people thought that the place was closed for the season, however this was the last weekend. Because it was the last day open the snack shack was giving way free ice cream, soda, pretzels, and churros. It was an awesome day spent with our family. We took a ton of pictures, but I will only put up my favorites.

Toby's Baby Blessing

On Sunday, Toby had his baby blessing. Most of our friends and family drove to our ward for the occasion. It was a lot of fun to see everybody. During Sacrament meeting Toby was behaving very well. He was sitting with Karma and Emily. However it was getting close to nap time and he was starting to doze off. When the bishop went to announce the blessings (first another baby in the ward and then Toby), Karma handed me Toby. As soon as Toby was moved he started screaming. I tried to calm him down and stood up, then realized that I couldn't take him out because he was going to be blessed in a few minutes. I sat back down and Toby screamed through the blessing of the other baby in our ward. I still feel bad about it. Toby screamed as Zach took him up to the front of the church, but managed to quiet down for the blessing. The blessing was very sweet. When Zach brought Toby back to our bench I took him and he was asleep within thirty seconds. After church was over everyone went over to James and Jackie's house for lunch. We had a great time eating and visiting with everyone.

Bear Lake

Some of our friends decided to spend Labor Day weekend at a cabin in Bear Lake and even though we have a baby, they invited us to come along. We drove up Friday evening and played games. We played Battle of the Sexes - 2 girls vs 4 boys. Despite the fact that the boys were way ahead the whole game, Sarah and I came back to win it in the end. It was awesome. On Saturday we headed to the lake. I stayed at the cabin with Toby for a few hours so that he wouldn't be sitting in the sun. Then Sarah came back and watched him so that both Zach and I could play. Thanks a lot Sarah!! Everbody chipped in to rent a boat and a tube. Everybody had fun wakeboarding, knee boarding, tubing, and just hanging out in the boat. While I was on the boat, Steve drove like a mad man determined to kill Erik who was on the tube. You will see in the video below how crazy the ride was, I couldn't even hold the camera still. Zach and I came back to Kaysville that evening to get everything ready for Toby's blessing. We had so much fun and hope we can get together with everybody again soon.

A Blowout

Last Friday Zach, Toby, and I headed up to Logan. Zach had the day off so we were going to go up to Bear Lake that night. We went up a little earlier than we needed to so that we could visit friends and family as well as pick up Toby's birth certificate. Even though Toby was born more than two months ago we had yet to get his birth certificate because of our move to Kaysville right after he was born. When we got to Logan we drove to the Bear River Health Department's parking lot. Zach dropped me off and I went to go inside only to find out that the door was locked and they aren't open on Fridays. Sadly we don't know when we will be able to pick up Toby's birth certificate because Zach drives our only car to work and he only has Fridays off. Maybe someday we will have proof of our son's birth.

After that incident we had lunch with our friends Jason and Kiley and their two sons. We had a picnic in the park and were able to visit with each other. It was a lot of fun. We sure miss having them close by.

That afternoon we spent some time with Zach's sister Emily who just started school at USU. We went and saw her dorm room. It is so close to everything on campus, both Zach and I were very jealous. After a short visit, Zach ran to the grocery store to pick up some food while I stayed behind to feed Toby. While he was eating he pooped, which is not that uncommon for him. A few minutes later I looked down at my pants only to realize that Toby had had a blowout and there was poop on both of my legs. Emily was kind enough to get some paper towels and wipe it off while I tried to take care of Toby. I pulled the changing mat out of the diaper bag and out it on the floor. Then as I was laying Toby down his head slipped off my arm at the last second, bonked his head on the cement floor, and started screaming. So I changed his diaper and his clothes while trying to calm him down. He finally stopped crying and fell asleep as I was leaving Emily's apartment.

Oh the joy of being a mother.

A Wreath For The Door

When we moved into our new apartment there was a hook on the front door. Since that time I have thought how nice it would be to hang something on the door. Most of our neighbors have wreaths or welcome signs on their doors and I have been looking and looking for something to hang up. I thought about all of the decorations that we already have, but none of them work right now - I have a snowman sign and a hanging halloween "boo" sign, both of which would look rather funny. Because we didn't have anything and most of the wreaths you see in stores are dreadful I decided to make one myself. I went to hobby lobby and bought a plain grapevine wreath and several bouquets of flowers. Yesterday I cut all the flower arrangements apart and stuck the flowers onto the wreath. I think it turned out pretty well.
